About the village
Crambeck Village was created in 1989 by the conversion or replacement of buildings previously owned by a reform school. It is situated about a mile east of Welburn and is adjacent to the A64. Its location makes for easy access to Malton and York and the popular resorts of the east coast.
The private village comprises just 63 properties which are set in grounds of several hectares. There is a Management Company which is responsible for the maintenance of the village and the upkeep of its amenities which include a nature trail, a tennis court, two paddocks and a playing field. The Village also owns a n area of land alongside the River Derwent which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Management Company’s activities are financed by monthly contributions from homeowners.
The village has a Sports and Social Club which organises several social activities during the year.
Sport and Leisure Facilities
Crambeck Village has several sporting amenities which are available to residents and friends.
On the southern side of the village, there are 2 horse paddocks which can be rented. The number of horses per paddock is limited by the grazing area but residents are welcome to apply for rental rights.
Also on the southern side of the village is a tennis court .
Residents have bankside fishing rights on land owned by the village alongside the River Derwent. This land is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and can be used for walking, wildlife observations and dog-walking.
The Village Nature Trail runs along the northern side of the village and similarly used for walking.
There are many footpaths in the area and the Centenary Way actually passes through the Village. Details of the footpaths are available on the County Council website Footpath page.
